Nested is a community, and like any community it needs leaders to show the way.

Our team can count on expert ambassadors who have devoted hours of research to understand, process and share information over the growth and adoption of new technologies.

Today we’re presenting to you our first champion: Kris Kay — also known as DeFi Donut.

We sat down with him to find out more about who he is and the reasons why he agreed to become Nested’s ambassador. The Pandora box

Kris graduated with a computer science degree, but the traditional career path that followed did not convince him. “I wanted to work for myself without exactly knowing what it meant at the time… I just knew that I was ready to take risks to find out…”. The crypto market took-off only six months after Kris quit his job in 2017 — a happy coincidence that opened a door for DeFi Donut.

That run was impressive and took everyone by surprise, but so did the crypto winter that ensued. Kris did not waver and hodled fast onto his investment.

“What really got me started wasn’t 2017 though… it was the 2020 DeFi summer,” he explained.

That was when his passion was truly born. From Passion to devotion

Kris Kay and web3 are synonymous by now. “I live in this space… every single day.”

Digging deeper, Kris had the good idea of documenting his learnings from the start. “When I discovered DeFi and understood the ramifications it would have on our world… a real passion was born.” It was his keen interest that led him to record and share his knowledge with anyone curious enough to learn.

It was almost naturally — and without realizing it — that Kris built himself as a legitimate crypto specialist of the web3 sphere.

“I didn’t mean to launch a YouTube channel like that… but I just felt the need to share the wealth of information that I was discovering,” said the former junior developer turned DeFi teacher.

Kris published the “DeFi Wealth Bible” and the “Cyber Money” package that further increased his notoriety.

DeFi Donuts’ devotion inspired several thousand followers throughout his YouTube and Twitter accounts, demonstrating that the sector is attracting more people by the day. Road to mass adoption

According to Kris, DeFi growth depends on two aspects: user experience and integration.

The Nested team focused primarily on the former because we know that the best way to democratize DeFi is to make it accessible.

“I think Nested made investment in crypto so approachable,” explained Kris.

When it comes to integration, people will be ready to onboard once mainstream and centralized exchanges will incorporate DeFi.

The goal ultimately is for people to be able to get involved in a single click. “I don’t think everybody is meant to set up a Metamask wallet… or deal with things like Etherscan and bridges… it just puts people off…” Nested is already ahead of the curve in that regard and will have had the time to aggregate all the DeFi tools available into a single app to provide a comfortable web2 user experience — but in web3.Kris is convinced that “DeFi will become the backbone of finance” one day. This is where Nested comes in. The social factor Helping reduce entry barriers and help newcomers understand the transformation has been Kris’ purpose for the better part of the last two years.DeFi Donut tweeted about Nested and saw his community picking up the concept instantly. “They started creating and sharing portfolios in Discord… discussing more than just what tokens to buy… Nested brings that social aspect that people are looking for.” Kris never hesitates to give some of his time to teach his students about Nested and fulfill his role of ambassador toward his community. Investment made easy Teaching brand new technological concepts and the history that goes with it is no easy feat.“You first must go through new ideas like blockchain, wallets, switching networks… before even considering the financial aspect of it”, explained Kris.“That’s why I love Nested, it disguises learning… and the fact that it uses NFT technology makes for endless use cases.” Nested takes care of the difficult bit, allowing users to focus on what matters, hands-on.No need to spend countless hours explaining how to invest in crypto anymore to “family and friends… I can send them portfolios for Christmas,” he added smiling. “Once people receive a portfolio, they’re incentivized to learn more: they want to know how to access the portfolio and what it actually means to have an […]
